AILEEN CASSINETTO shares, "I very rarely use a desk for writing, but I’ve converted my father-in-law’s old telephone cabinet into a small desk. It has a pull-out writing surface and fits into a closet, which is perfect for me as I find that confined spaces help keep me focused. For crafting, I use a bigger space (2 portable centerfold tables plus the dining table). Generally, though, anywhere I can lay my notebook to write first drafts works as a “desk.”
